Our story
CrossFit NYC was the first CrossFit affiliate in New York City and is now one of the five oldest CrossFit affiliates in the world (2005). We have supervised more CrossFit workouts than anyone else.
Our classes include scaling and substitution options that allow beginners as well as those who are older, less advanced, or recovering from injuries to proceed safely.
Those who are new to CrossFit start with two hours of private training with an experienced coach, included in a one-month (no further obligation) First-Month CrossFit membership.
If you’re wondering whether CrossFit NYC is right for you, just ask yourself whether you want to improve your fitness (regardless of where you are starting from)? If your answer is yes, then we want you as a member, and we will work hard with you to accomplish your goals.
Our Professional Coaches
Hari Singh, Owner and General Manager
I am one of the founding members of CrossFit NYC. I became an owner in 2007 and sole owner in 2019. My background is not in fitness. I have a BS in Electrical Engineering from New York University and an MBA from Columbia University. When I joined CrossFit NYC, I was CEO of two midsized companies on Long Island: Dairy Barn Stores (then a chain of 60 drive-through convenience stores) and Oak Tree farm Dairy (then one of the two remaining milk processing plants in NY State south of Albany). I am 66 years old and do CrossFit an average of three days per week.
Brian DeGennaro
Senior coach at CrossFit NYC and the head coach for our Barbell programs, a role I have been performing part time starting in 2008 and full time since 2012 after graduating Syracuse University with a BS in Exercise Science. During that time I was a personal trainer at the fitness center, interned within the Syracuse S&C department, and briefly for 3 months at California Strength in 2011.
